While air travel has become an integral part of leisure, business and academic research, the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed this situation. Travel restrictions to limit the risk of infection have brought global air travel to a standstill, with trips being canceled, postponed, carried out by other means of transport or replaced by digital solutions.
TRANSFLIGHT is dedicated to the following questions:
- What factors influence air travel behavior in the private, corporate and scientific sectors?
- Where does the carbon lock-in in this area come from and what solutions are there?
- How will emissions from air travel develop in the future?
- How can our findings lead to strategies and policy measures that are effective, fair and feasible?
- What are the views of air travelers and what do stakeholders think?
- What experiences/challenges/opportunities has the COVID-19 pandemic brought with it in terms of the reorganization of long-distance travel behavior?
- What role can digitalization and virtual mobility play as an alternative to physical travel, and what other options for action may exist?
